I have been writing about Israel, medicine, science, Jewish life and people for newspapers and magazines in Israel, Britain, the United States and Ireland since the 1970s. My journalism has appeared in TIME, the London Daily Telegraph, the Jerusalem Post, Hadassah Magazine, The Irish Times and numerous Jewish newspapers and magazines.
Science & Medicine
Medicine and science have been the largest part of my journalism, particularly my long-running work for Hadassah Magazine, for which I’ve been writing since 1979.
Over nearly half a century, the subjects have changed dramatically. Israeli medicine has moved from a relatively small, developing field to one of the world’s most innovative healthcare environments. Scientific discoveries that once seemed extraordinary have become everyday medicine.
I have written about cancer after watching it transform my own family. I have reported on medical research while living through my own experiences of illness and loss. I have written about Israeli scientists, doctors, patients and families, and about what happens when medicine meets the messy reality of ordinary human life.
